Description

Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Float Nurse position available in the New Mexico area. This role involves providing care to general inpatient medical-surgical patients on a floating basis, with potential exposure to non-critical pediatric patients. The position is scheduled for days and offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic hospital environment.

Job Details:

  • Shift: Days, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with floating and call responsibilities required
  • Position: Medical Surgical Float Position
  • Location: Carlsbad, New Mexico
  • Start Date: 09/07/2026
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Number of Positions: 1
  • Schedule: 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications in BLS; 2+ years of experience in medical-surgical nursing; General Medical-Surgical Inpatient Nursing Unit experience; Ability to work floating shifts; Valid credentials and compliance with New Mexico state fingerprinting requirements
  • Preferred Qualifications: ACLS and PALS certifications; Experience with MedHost electronic medical record system; Scrub color of any color acceptable
  • Additional Information: There is no on-call schedule for Medical-Surgical duties, except for census flex on-call prior to the start of scheduled shifts if census is low. No guaranteed scheduling blocks; candidate must be flexible with schedule changes. Fingerprints for all New Mexico travelers are required, and only agencies registered with the state of New Mexico should submit candidates due to processing time considerations.
