Description
Job Summary:
The Operating Room Technician (Surgical Technologist) position is based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This role involves providing perioperative care within a general, orthopedic, and cardiovascular operating environment, with a focus on neuro cases. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day and must have a minimum of two years of experience as a Surgical Technologist. The position involves night shifts, requiring candidates to work evenings and weekends as scheduled.
Job Details:
- Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
- Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA; license to submit required
- Education & Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technician; 2 years of travel experience preferred; no minimum experience required for the job itself
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts (0830-2100), Monday through Friday; 36-40 hours per week; evening/night shifts; every other weekend; call required, approximately once every 7-10 days on weekdays/night, full weekend call every 5-6 weeks
- No float required unless specified
- Responsibilities: Assist with surgical procedures, anticipate and respond to patient and team needs, maintain confidentiality, and operate using electronic medical records (EPIC)
- Equipment: Use of surgical instruments, EPIC charting system, and other operative tools
- Additional Notes: Position is primarily neuro cases, requiring strong neuro experience, with exposure to general, orthopedic, and cardiovascular surgical cases.
