Description

Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit Nurse position available in Hilo, Hawaii. This role involves providing nursing care in a 15-bed progressive care unit, which includes step-down intensive care and telemetry monitoring. Candidates must bring their Hawaii license on the first day. The position requires flexibility with floating to various acute units within the facility, including Medical, Surgical/Pediatric, Intensive Care, and Emergency departments. The schedule is based on 36 hours per week following orientation, with no guarantee of hours or call responsibilities.

Job Details:

  • Location: Hilo, Hawaii
  • Position: Progressive Care Unit Nurse
  • Shift Hours: 8/10/12 hours shifts, scheduled 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation. No guarantee of hours. No call.
  • Required Qualifications: Hawaii state nursing license; at least 1 year hospital acute care experience within the last year; Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred; current adult life support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) certifications preferred; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications: ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications.
  • Additional Information: Must arrive the Thursday before the start date to attend the employee health appointment on Friday. Candidates must be able to start on time. The role involves primary nursing care, telemetry monitoring, telemetry strip reading, and fingerstick blood sugar assessments. Equipment utilized includes Meditech charting, Pyxis medication dispensing, BIPAP, and continuous cardiac monitoring.
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week, following first week of orientation.
  • Float: Float to all acute units within the facility including Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER.
