Job Summary:
The Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) position at the critical care unit involves providing specialized nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The role focuses on managing complex cardiac postoperative patients and requires a minimum of 3 years of ICU experience with at least 1 year in the cardiovascular intensive care unit.

Job Details:

• Location: Milwaukee, WI
• Shift: Night shift from 1900-0700, 12-hour shifts, with a schedule cycle of 6 weeks, scheduled 1-2 weeks prior to start.
• Required Qualifications: 3 years of ICU experience with 1-year CVICU experience, current BLS and ACLS certifications, proficient in invasive line monitoring (Swan Ganz, arterial lines), pacemakers (epicardial, transvenous), chest tubes, cardiac medications (inotropes, vasopressors, sedation/paralytics), ventilator/trach management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation. EPIC electronic medical record experience is preferred.
• Preferred Qualifications: CCRN certification is preferred.
• Support and Equipment: The department has a dedicated CVICU intensivist 24/7, charge nurse, respiratory therapists, and other specialized staff. Equipment includes GE monitors, IV pumps, and EPIC EMR system.
• Floater Information: Floating may occur to other ICU units, including Medical, Surgical, Neuro, and Surgical Intensive Care Units (SICU), with a ratio of 1:3 in Medical/Surgical Units, and other designated areas.
• Orientation: One day of facility and unit orientation, followed by 2-4 hours of neonatal emergency assessment training with a supervisor/nurse educator, then assigned to the unit with a preceptor.
• Schedule and Additional Notes: No on-call requirements. Weekend rotations every third weekend. RTO approval up to 7 days. All staff adhere to a fatigue policy limiting work to 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts. Scrub attire should be solid color without graphics or logos. Parking is free, with designated areas for day and night shifts.
