Description
Job Summary:
The medical surgical floor registered nurse (RN) position is based at a large short-term acute care facility in Saint Louis, Missouri. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care within a Level I trauma center, supporting a diverse adult and geriatric patient population. The position start date is September 14, 2026, with a focus on trauma, acute care surgery, and general medical-surgical services.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid Missouri or compact state nursing license; at least 5 years of experience; BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support); previous trauma level I and II experience; 6 years of patient ratio experience; proficiency in charting with Epic; recent community hospital and trauma experience; ability to pass Relias EKG exam with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge nurse experience, Blood Product Administration, Peripheral Line Care/Management, Phlebotomy, Starting IVs, Insulin, PCA, management of spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, surgical drains including chest tubes and Pleur-evac, ventilator management (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula), isolation precautions, wound care with wound vac, and level 1 trauma experience.
- Additional Information: The position requires floating within scope to meet facility needs and accommodates a block schedule. RTO restrictions limit to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with scheduled work to be completed accordingly. Parking passes are available with orientation parking instructions provided.
- Certifications & Skills: Must possess ACLS, BLS, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute), and NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale). Skills include managing ports, blood products, wound vacs, external fixators, and advanced airway management.
- General Requirements: Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience, with trauma and community hospital background strongly preferred. The assignment involves working in a Level I trauma center with an interdisciplinary team and a patient census of approximately 50-55 per day.
