Description

Job Summary:
The labor and delivery registered nurse (L&D RN) position is located in Anchorage, Alaska, within a high-risk obstetrics and antepartum high-risk unit. The role involves providing specialized maternal and neonatal care in a busy OB Triage and Antepartum High Risk unit. Candidates are required to bring their Alaska RN license on the first day of assignment.

Job Details:

  • Type of Facility: Acute hospital with Magnet designation, Level II Trauma designation, and recognized as a US News & World Report Best Hospital in Alaska.
  • Location: Anchorage, Alaska
  • Schedule: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Certifications: Must possess BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
  • Required Qualifications: AK RN license in hand, 1 year of experience in labor and delivery, proficiency with Epic charting system, and certification in the listed areas.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Charge nurse experience or willingness to train as charge.
  • Additional Information: Position involves high patient throughput, including deliveries averaging 7 per day, with the possibility of up to 14. Responsibilities include assisting with high-risk deliveries, sterile speculum exams, neonatal and maternal assessments, fetal monitoring, medication administration, and various obstetric and neonatal procedures. Candidates must be willing to work during major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) and be available to float within the scope of practice as needed. References covering the past 3 years are required, and vaccinations for Hep B are accepted.
  • Notes: Candidates must have a license in hand for auto-offer; pending licenses are welcome but must be submitted as screening. All applicable RTO (time off) requests should be included at the time of submission.
