Job Summary:
Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) position located in Omaha, Nebraska. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Location: Omaha, Nebraska
- Experience: 2 years of Emergency Room (ER) experience required
- Certifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course); NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) preferred
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with shift times of 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 9:00 PM - 9:00 PM, 11:00 PM - 11:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 3:00 AM, and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC, minimum of 2 years' ER experience, ability to work scheduled night shifts. Drivers' license required at submittal, used to verify candidate radius.
- Preferred Qualifications: NRP certification, experience in a Level I Trauma Center, Pediatric Certified by State, experience interpreting cardiac strips.
- Additional Information:
- Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove nails will lead to termination.
- RN candidates must pass a Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation with a 90% passing score; resources provided.
- The unit is a Level I Trauma Center with pediatric certification and comprehensive stroke center designation.
- Floating to the Observation (OBS) unit and Freestanding Creighton ER at least once a week is required.
- Orientation includes 1 week of onboarding, 2 shifts at Bergan, and 1 shift at UC.
- The role requires working in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting with diverse patient diagnoses including trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, and strokes.
- Charting system: EPIC.
- RTO (Request Time Off) must be approved upfront for 7 or fewer days within the 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission.
