Description

Job Summary:
This opportunity is for a Labor and Delivery (L&D) Charge Nurse position at a healthcare facility located in Redding, California. The role involves working in the Family Birth Center, providing specialized care for both low and high-risk deliveries, including patients with congenital defects requiring immediate surgery. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The position starts on 08/04/2026 and offers 12-hour night shifts during every other weekend, with a first-to-float policy and holiday rotation.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification, COVID vaccine certification, and a valid license to submit. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of L&D charge or L&D nurse manager experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Cerner electronic medical record system and Fetal Link surveillance system.
  • Staffing and Orientation: Orientation typically consists of 3 shifts if circulating, otherwise 2 shifts; circulating role is not mandatory. Floating may include Pediatric patients (same patients as postpartum) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) patients with prior experience.
  • Additional Information: Peak staffing times occur in July and October. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts within a 13-week assignment, or 3 shifts for shorter assignments. The unit operates as a level II trauma center in an acute care setting.
  • Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and certification in Advanced Fetal Monitoring are required.
  • Experience: No minimum experience specified beyond the requirement of 2 years of L&D charge or nurse manager experience for the role.
