Description
Job Summary:
A registered nurse (RN) position is available in a Long Term Care (LTC) facility located in Canistota, South Dakota. This role involves providing patient care for the elderly population, including individuals with dementia and behavioral health conditions. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment. The position requires at least one year of experience, with an emphasis on geri psych or LTC psych background.
Job Details:
- Location: Canistota, SD
- Shift: Night shift, 6:00 PM 6:30 AM; every other weekend and holiday
- Schedule: 12-hour block scheduling, working 48 hours per week minimum
- Required Qualifications: BSN degree, active license to submit, BLS certification, minimum 1 year of nursing experience in similar settings
- Preferred Qualifications: Geriatric psychiatric experience or long-term care psychiatric experience
- Additional Information:
- EMR: PCC (Point Click Care)
- No on-call or callback available; a $500 fee applies if the clinician backs out or quits with less than a 14-day notice
- Guarantee: 36 hours per week for twelve-hour shifts or 40 hours per week for eight to ten-hour shifts
- Common patient diagnoses include dementia and behavioral disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and paranoia
- Orientation includes training, a tour, competencies, and shadowing 1-2 shifts
- Charting primarily done on the day shift, with most documentation completed during daytime hours
- The census involves elder patients, with a nurse and med aide staffing from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, respectively
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- No charge differential applies at Good Samaritan facilities, and local rates are used for housing if applicable
