Job Summary:
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse position is located in Morgantown, West Virginia. This role involves providing specialized care to pediatric patients with complex medical conditions, including congenital heart disease, respiratory issues, neurosurgery, and others. Candidates must bring their nursing license on the first day and have a minimum of two years of PICU experience. The position requires flexibility to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including day and night rotations, with weekend and holiday commitments.

Job Details:

  • Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
  • Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), rotating days and nights, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license and willingness to wait for license submission. Two years of PICU experience required.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing sedation protocols and vasoactive drugs with physician orders, familiarity with EPIC charting system.
  • Responsibilities include: Assisting registered nurses with equipment and admissions, acting as Charge Nurse or House Supervisor as needed, managing titratable drips such as sedation and vasoactive medications, monitoring patients with central monitors, and working within a collaborative team.
  • Additional Information: The unit is part of an acute care setting with a pediatric patient population that may include adult patients. In-house 24/7 pediatrician, resident, and advanced practice providers are present. Equipment managed includes vents, Cpap, BiPap, with telemetry monitoring. The unit follows a self-scheduling process; candidates are expected to work holidays if scheduled, with a two weekend per four-week schedule requirement. Floating within children's units (L&D, NICU, and Acute Peds) is required.
