Job Summary:
A registered nurse (RN) specializing in Telemetry (TELE) located in Omaha, Nebraska, is sought for a 12-hour night shift position in the Med Surg Neuro unit. The role involves caring for neurological and medical-surgical patients, with a focus on hourly rounding, responsiveness, and managing a busy patient flow. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Location: Omaha, NE
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid driver's license, BLS certification (AHA), NIHSS certification; minimum 2 years of nursing experience in a related setting
- Preferred Qualifications: Travel experience preferred but not required; strong candidates without travel experience considered
- Float: Yes, floating to other medical-surgical units with Med Surg patients awaiting beds
- Additional Information: The unit features mechanical lifts in alternate rooms, emphasizes hourly rounding and responsiveness, and manages high patient turnover with admissions and discharges occurring multiple times daily. The nurse must demonstrate excellent attendance, teamwork, friendliness, compassion, and patient-first attitude.
- Capabilities: RN's may read their own telemetry strips; tele monitors are interpreted by techs, with RN tele awareness expected.
- Orientation: Two days of unit-specific orientation.
- Shift & Scheduling Notes: Travelers will be scheduled; limited block scheduling may be approved.
- Holiday Requirements: 2-3 holidays between Thanksgiving and New Year's.
- Additional Notes: Unit serves diverse patient populations, including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese cultures.
- Charting System: EPIC
- Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
- Minimum experience required: 2 years in a similar clinical environment
