Description
Job Summary:
A registered nurse position in a Medical Surgical Floor located in Rapid City, South Dakota. The role involves providing patient care in a 28-bed inpatient unit, with a focus on telemetry monitoring, post-surgical care, medication administration, and patient education. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Location: Rapid City, South Dakota
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with no call. Five weekend shifts per month (Friday, Saturday or Sunday). Scheduled to start on 07/13/2026, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid South Dakota or compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license or willingness to obtain one; Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred; at least 1 year of recent medical surgical or post-surgical experience; experience with telemetry monitoring, reading EKG strips, medication administration, IV infusions, blood transfusions, wound vac management, PICC line management, post-surgical patient education, bladder scanning, Foley placement, Straight Catheter, and admits/discharges; current CPSI electronic charting experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with computerized charting systems such as TruBridge or Evident.
- Additional Information: There is not always a hospitalist provider in house; some times only RNs and CNAs are present, with providers on call. Pharmacy and laboratory services are not always in house but are on call. The hospital uses manual narcotic counting processes using systems like CPSI.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Other details: The unit has a nurse to patient ratio of approximately 3-4 patients per nurse and uses black scrubs as dress code. Orientation consists of on-the-job training with a preceptor, covering charting, medication processes, admit/discharge procedures, and policy adherence.
