Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse specializing in the Labor and Delivery Department in Richmond, Virginia. This role involves providing specialized nursing care for mothers during labor, delivery, and postpartum stages. The position supports a unit with a focus on patient-centered practices, adherence to clinical guidelines, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Details:
- Location: Richmond, Virginia
- Facility Information: The unit is a Women's Hospital with 16 labor, delivery, and recovery beds, 3 operating rooms, and 3 triage areas. Staffing includes a charge nurse, 6-7 RNs during night shifts, and 1 surgical technician.
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Current (within previous 2 years) intermediate fetal heart monitoring certification, labor and delivery experience, recent Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications, and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar setting.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience at facilities with 3,000 or more annual births, and additional childbirth-related certifications.
- Additional Information: The role involves managing low to high acuity deliveries, performing procedures such as labor, delivery, and recovery, antepartum care, triage, and initial newborn care including breastfeeding support. The unit emphasizes diversity, adherence to dress code (navy blue scrubs and covered tattoos/piercings), and has in-house coverage of hospitalist, midwife, anesthesiology, and neonatology teams.
