Description
Job Summary:
The operating room open heart specialist position is based at a hospital located in Richmond, Virginia. This role involves providing specialized OR (Operating Room) cardiac care within a dedicated unit. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The position supports a variety of complex cardiac and thoracic procedures and requires proficiency in scrubbing cardiac cases, including those requiring bypass, mediastinal, thoracic, and minimally invasive daVinci-assisted surgeries.

- Shift Hours: 8 hours per shift
- Schedule: The unit operates from 06:30 AM to 03:00 PM. Call shifts start at 03:00 PM when assigned. Weekend call duties are scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday when required.
- Required Qualifications: Certifications include Basic Life Support (BLS); candidates must be proficient in scrubbing cardiac cases requiring bypass, mediastinal, thoracic, and ECMO procedures. The candidate should possess advanced skills in procedures such as CABG, valve replacement, aortic dissection repair, TAVR, thoracic surgeries (including daVinci-assisted lobectomy and wedge resections), mediastinal lymph node biopsy, and ECMO.
- Additional Information: Must have the ability to take call. The position involves working on a variety of cardiac cases, such as CABG, valve procedures, thoracic surgeries, and ECMO initiation. Hospital-provided scrubs are required. Unit-specific policies and guidelines should be attached.
