Job Summary:
The emergency room (ER) nurse position in Durango, Colorado, involves providing high-quality care in a fast-paced acute care setting. The role requires working night shifts with a schedule of 12 hours per shift and a minimum of 36 hours per week. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.   • Required Qualifications: ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), PALS, NIHSS, TNCC, 2 years of emergency department experience, Colorado nursing license, and valid state-issued license.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with common drip medications used in ER, ability to interpret tele monitors, point of care testing procedures, and familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record system.
  • Additional Information: The ER treats an average of 63 patients per day. Nurse to patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:5 based on acuity. The charge nurse takes an assignment. RT services are available 24/7, with capabilities including ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs. RNs are trained to perform point of care lab testing. The unit operates in an acute care setting with a Trauma Level 3 designation.
  • Floating: Travelers are expected to float throughout the zone they are hired into, within a 60-mile radius.
  • Orientation: Clinicians must be in the state for the week of orientation, even if modules are remote.
  • Schedule and Staffing: The leadership will create schedules based on needs; self-scheduling or block scheduling is not specified.
  • Cancellation Policy: The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, or 3 shifts for shorter assignments.
