Description
Job Summary:
An ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in Albemarle, North Carolina. This role requires providing critical care to patients with complex and acute health issues, including managing ventilators, cardiac monitoring, medication titration, and various invasive procedures. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment. The position offers an opportunity to work within a teamwork-oriented environment that values open communication and constructive feedback.
Job Details:
- Location: Albemarle, NC
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, must be clocked in before 6:45 PM but not before 6:38 PM
- Schedule: Every 6 weeks with weekend rotation at minimum every other week
- Minimum Experience: 18 months to 2 years of ICU RN experience required
- Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, valid nursing license.
- Patient Care: Management of patients with diagnoses such as sepsis, COPD, CHF, stroke, MI, arrhythmias, respiratory illnesses, and COVID-19. Typical patient ratios are RN: 1:2-3, with acuity-dependent adjustments.
- Skills Required: Stroke assessments, cardiac rhythm interpretation, invasive line management (ART lines, CVPs), critical care drips, chest tubes, PIV placement, vent management, trach care, NGT placement, drain management, PCA pumps, wound care, 12-lead EKG completion, medication titration including critical care infusions, and blood products.
- Unit Support: House supervisor, charge nurse, hospitalist, intensivist, 24/7 RT, and VCC team availability.
- Technology/Equipment: EPIC electronic medical record (EMR), alarms on IV pumps, Phillips monitors, Omnicell medication dispensers.
- Float: Willingness to float regionally within scope of practice, including Med/Tele, ICU, PCU, ED, and Behavioral Health units as needed.
- Orientation: 2-3 days within the department
- Scrub Color: Navy scrubs, no T-shirts or Crocs permitted; undershirts must be white or navy.
- Unit Culture: Collaborative, teamwork-focused, with an emphasis on open communication and constructive feedback.
