Description

Job Summary:
The organization is seeking an Operating Room (OR) Nurse for a facility located in Houston, Texas. This role involves working in a busy surgical environment with a focus on cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries, neuro spine procedures, and general surgeries. The selected candidate must bring their license on the first day of employment. The position requires a commitment to the specified schedule and skill set.

Job Details:

  • Location: Houston, TX
  • Specialty: Operating Room (OR)
  • Shift Schedule: Dayshift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting at 6:30 AM and ending at 5:00 PM; on-call hours from 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM on scheduled call days and weekends.
  • Required Qualifications: Candidates must have at least 2 years of circulating experience in an acute care hospital setting, with proficiency in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery procedures. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and a CNOR Certification are required. Education and licensure requirements must be met as per licensing standards.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with neuro spine surgeries, EMR proficiency in Meditech ORMC, and a minimum of 5 years of overall OR nursing experience are preferred.
  • Additional Information: The unit comprises 8 operating rooms with a staff of 13 registered nurses and 10 scrub technicians. Patient ratios are maintained at 1:1, and the dress code is scrubs provided by the hospital. Call coverage is on a rotating basis with 1 RN and 1 scrub tech on call from 5 PM to 7 AM and 24-hour weekend coverage from 7 AM Saturday to 7 AM Sunday. Artificial nails, dips, gels, etc., are not permitted within the unit.
