Description
Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit Neurological (ICU Neuro) Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized critical care to adult patients with neurological diagnoses, including stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, neurosurgery, and traumatic brain injury. Candidates are required to bring their RN license on the first day and must meet all credentialing requirements to work in this high-acuity environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Evening/Night, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours minimum per week, with every other weekend rotation and some holidays.
- Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, ACLS and BLS certifications, Epic electronic medical record experience, minimum of 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty they are submitting to, and ability to pass the telemetry test prior to start.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Neuro Intensive Care Unit, ICU experience specific to neuro diagnoses such as stroke, neurosurgery, and trauma.
- Additional Information: Candidates must have final pass/fail testing for telemetry with an adult and pediatric exam, including identification of lethal rhythms and correct interpretation of dysrhythmias. The role requires skills such as arterial line management, intracranial pressure monitoring, ventilator management, and procedural sedation. Experience in ICP monitoring or ventriculostomy is preferred.
- Location: Madison, WI 53792. Parking permit required through UW Transportation, with alternative transportation options available.
- Notes: This position requires float capability as needed. Inpatient RN travelers must have at least two years of recent acute care experience within the specialty, and strict testing criteria apply before starting.
