Description
Job Summary:
The operating room (OR) open heart surgical technologist position is based in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This role involves assisting in open heart surgeries under the supervision of a registered nurse, maintaining clinical standards, and supporting a positive therapeutic environment for patients and their families. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.
Job Details:
- Location: Tuscaloosa, Alabama
- Shift: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with participation in emergency call every third week for 7 days.
- Schedule: 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week, guaranteed 36 hours.
- Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of College Anatomy and Physiology I course or certified Central Sterile Processing Technician or certification; hospital-approved Surgical Tech certificate course. Certifications include American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or Red Cross; NIH license.
- Experience: Two years of experience preferred, with consideration given to 18 months of experience working under a high-level professional license and at least one year of recent experience in the specialty.
- Additional Information: Techs must be willing to float to other units or hospitals as needed. The main procedure involves open heart surgery, with participation in other specialties in absence of the primary cases. Timesheet approval will be handled by Lacey Dice. The position is patient-facing and not remote, requiring clinical skills and adherence to dress code (solid navy scrubs).
