Job Summary:
A Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized care for post-operative heart patients, individuals experiencing acute myocardial infarction (AMI), and cardiogenic shock. Candidates are required to bring their Wisconsin RN license on the first day of employment.

Job Details:

• Shift: 12-hour nights, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Start Date: 07/20/2026
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Guaranteed Hours Per Week: 36
• Required Qualifications: Associate Degree or Certificate, Wisconsin RN License, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support). Candidates with CCRN certification are preferred. Minimum of 2 years of cardiac experience, with skills in handling Swan-Ganz catheters and intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABPs).
• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• Schedule: Nights, 36 hours per week, with every other holiday and every 2-3 weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) scheduled.
• Float: Float to all inpatient units as needed, including critical care and acute care clusters.
• Additional Information: The unit is a 12-bed CICU primarily caring for post-op hearts, patients with AMI, and cardiogenic shock. Procedures include frequent cardioversions, line placements, and ventilator management. The patient ratio is 2:1 for CRRT and 1:1 for Impella support. Candidates should be resilient, capable of managing change, and able to work independently. Scrub colors are flexible.
• Unit Notes: GSA hours are not guaranteed during orientation. Travelers have guaranteed set hours per week, except during holidays when the unit is closed.
