Description

Job Summary:
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is seeking a qualified healthcare professional for a position in Tacoma, Washington. The role involves providing specialized neonatal care in a Level III-IV NICU environment, supporting infants with complex medical needs. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.

Job Details:

  • Location: Tacoma, Washington
  • Minimum Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); Washington state license; two years of experience in a Level III-IV NICU.
  • Schedule: Rotating shifts from 07:00-19:30 or 19:00-07:30, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Skills: Respiratory support for ventilators, tracheostomy care (highly preferred but not mandatory), management of g-tubes, NG/OG feeds, NCPAP, UAC/UVC lines, PICC lines, medication administration, care plan development, and emergency discharge to home.
  • Additional Qualifications: Experience with preterm infants as early as 22 weeks gestation, respiratory and delivery room support, high-risk patient care, feeding and growth management, and neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS).
  • Experience Level: No minimum experience required, but two years of NICU experience is preferred.
  • EMR: EPIC system experience preferred.
  • Floating: May be required to serve as a sitter in the emergency room, though infrequently.
  • Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend, with possible back-to-back weekends rarely.
  • On Call: Not required.
  • Uniform: Any scrub color accepted.
  • Notes: Block scheduling may be offered but is not guaranteed. NICU is part of the pediatric hospital adjacent to the adult hospital with high-risk labor and delivery units. The NICU features private rooms and caters to a range of neonatal diagnoses, including prematurity and high-risk pregnancies.
