Description
Job Summary:
A licensed Registered Nurse (RN) is sought for a Neuro Cardiac Unit in Newburgh, Indiana. This position involves caring for complex Med/Surg and Telemetry patients, including post-cardiac caths, CVA/TIA, oncology, and cranial surgeries. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The role features a 12-hour day shift and a 13-week contract duration.
Job Details:
- Location: Newburgh, Indiana
- Shift: 12-hour days, from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- Schedule: Minimum of 36 hours per week; guaranteed set hours during non-holiday weeks, with holiday and weekend rotation as specified
- Required Qualifications: Current active compact licensed Registered Nurse (RN), American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, American Heart Association (AHA) National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, Associate Degree or Certificate, two years of strong Telemetry/Med/Surg experience, at least one travel assignment, trauma level II experience, recent Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience with EPIC, and a minimum of 0 years of experience
- Preferred Qualifications: Neuro assessment skills including NIHSS and dysphagia screening, Tele/12-lead Electrocardiogram (EKG) interpretation, initiation and titration of drips (Insulin, cardiac, Heparin), recovery from heart catheterization procedures (femoral & TR bands), additional skills such as nasogastric (NG) or Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) tube placement, peripheral intravenous (PIV) insertion, Tikosyn administration, and chest tube management
- Additional Information: Must pass Telemetry tests, strong assessment and critical thinking skills required, must be resilient and manage change well. Unit has 32 beds with a patient-to-staff ratio of 1:4-5 during days and 1:6-7 during nights. Cross-campus float within skillset may be required with a two-hour notice. May need to precept students and new hires.
- Certifications: Required to attach current active compact license, AHA BLS, NIHSS during submission.
- Experience: Minimum of two years in Telemetry/Med-Surg, trauma level II experience, with recent EPIC EMR experience required.
- Schedule: 12-hour days, 6:30 AM 7:00 PM, minimum 36 hours per week, with holiday and weekend rotations.
