Description

Job Summary:
The profession is registered nurse (RN) specializing in the cardiovascular surgical intensive care unit located in Baltimore, Maryland. This role involves providing specialized care for patients recovering from cardiac surgery, cardiac transplantation, lung transplantation, ventricular assist device placement, and other complex procedures. Candidates are required to bring their RN license on the first day of assignment.

Job Details:

  • Location: Baltimore, MD
  • Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular
  • Shift: A/P Rotation or straight evening shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid RN license; Basic Life Support (BLS); current experience with recovery of post-operative cardiac surgery patients in an ICU setting; proficiency with ventilators, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Swan-Ganz catheters, epicardial wires/pacemakers, vasoactive medication titration, level 1 Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO); training in a dedicated open-heart unit receiving patients directly from the operating room.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Critical Care Certification; trauma course; Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Epic.
  • Schedule: A/P Rotation or straight PM, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Information: Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 or 1:2. Orientation occurs on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month.
  • Previous Experience: Candidates with prior employment in any Johns Hopkins Health System facility (staff, PRN, travel) must be noted on the coversheet and in the work history for eligibility verification. Candidates must be away for at least one full year before reapplying as a traveler.
