Description
Job Summary:
The emergency room registered nurse (RN) position is located in Largo, Maryland. This role involves providing high-quality emergency care during night shifts, specifically 3x12-hour shifts from 7:30 PM to 8:00 AM. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in emergency care, with travel experience preferred. The RN will be responsible for delivering specialized emergency services across all age groups, managing a variety of complex patient conditions, and utilizing advanced emergency procedures and equipment.
Job Details:
- Position: Emergency Room RN (Nights)
- Location: Largo, Maryland
- Shift Schedule: 3x12 Night shifts from 7:30 PM to 8:00 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Active RN license for Maryland or a Compact state, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI, TNCC certifications, minimum 3 years of emergency room experience, travel experience required, proficiency with Epic charting system, experience with Level I and Level II trauma center procedures, ability to handle a patient census averaging 140 with all age ranges.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge nurse experience, community hospital experience, LTAC experience, trauma level I and II experience, pediatric emergency department experience.
- Responsibilities: Provide emergency care encompassing a wide range of conditions such as chest pain, stroke, trauma, respiratory illnesses, cardiac arrest, and others. Manage ventilated patients, perform invasive procedures including arterial line management, chest tube insertion, starting and maintaining IVs, and administering emergency medications. Recognize and respond to critical conditions such as neuro-trauma, burns, poisoning, and behavioral health crises. Ensure patient safety following SOPs, interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias, and document using Epic.
- Additional Information: Candidates must be comfortable floating within scope as needed, work in a facility certified for STEMI and stroke care, and adhere to vaccination policies including flu vaccination. The position involves working every other weekend and scheduled holidays.
