Description

Job Summary:
The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Nursing position is based in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing patient care in an observation unit, managing high admissions and discharges, and interpreting electrocardiogram (EKG) strips. Candidates are required to bring their Wisconsin Registered Nurse license on the first day of assignment.

Job Details:

  • Location: Wausau, WI
  • Shift: 12-hour variable shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM and 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week, with overtime billable after 48 hours worked in a week
  • Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday
  • Required Qualifications: Wisconsin Registered Nurse license, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certified through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC), minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience with at least one travel assignment, charting experience with EPIC electronic health record system, ability to read and interpret EKG strips, associate degree or certification in nursing, positioned in the observation unit, and ability to handle patient conditions including anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, pre- and post-operative urology and gastrointestinal cases, and management of drips such as Cardiac (e.g., Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, Heparin).
  • Preferred Qualifications: NIHSS certification is highly preferred; experience with high patient turnover and managing different shift changes.
  • Additional Information: The contract includes 36 hours of low census unbillable hours, which can be low censused in hour increments. The unit typically experiences high admissions and discharges, requiring flexibility and resilience. During flu season, declining flu and COVID vaccinations necessitates wearing a mask at all times.
