Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position available in Concord, North Carolina. The role involves providing specialized care in a PCU environment, managing various patient conditions including surgical, medical, and post-operative cases. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment. The position focuses on team collaboration and high-quality patient care in a fast-paced setting.
Job Details:
- Location: Concord, North Carolina
- Shift Hours: 0645-1915 and 1845-0715
- Schedule cycle: Every 6 weeks
- Minimum Hours Per Week: 36.0
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications; North Carolina license; at least 18 months of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience.
- Skills Required: Drain care, central line management, G/J tubes, Heparin Gtt management, cardiac Gtt management (ACLS), cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement/management, management of various surgical drains.
- Support within the Department: Certified Nursing Assistants for blood draws, Foley insertion/removal, standard patient care; Charge nurse support; availability of IV/VAT Team as a hospital consult; Resource Nurse mentorship during night shifts; telemetry monitoring/tech.
- Technology/Equipment: Epic Electronic Medical Record system, Alaris infusion pumps with alarms, Omnicell medication dispensers, Philips monitors, bladder scanner, EKG machine, transport monitor, bedside Tele monitors in PCU room.
- Floating: Within region and scope of practice. Region 1 includes facilities within Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division (main, Mercy, LCH peds).
- Orientation: 2 days departmental orientation.
- Patient Ratios: RN: 1:4-6; surge times could be 1:7-8.
- Support within Department: CN duties include blood draws and Foley insertions/removals; Charge nurse assistance available; IV/VAT Team as a resource; Night shift mentorship by Resource Nurse; telemetry monitoring/tech.
- Travel and scheduling notes: Travelers will work 75% of holidays; can approve up to 6 days off (excluding holidays); schedule repeats every 6 weeks.
- Additional Notes: Scrub color is Navy; free parking; strong team-oriented unit culture.
