Job Summary
The labor and delivery department within a clinical support unit is seeking a highly experienced registered nurse for a float pool position. The role involves providing specialized care for antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum patients across multiple facilities within the region. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience in Labor and Delivery and antepartum settings, and be proficient in circulating in the operating room and managing full couplet assignments. This position offers an opportunity to work within a supportive team environment with a variety of clinical responsibilities.
Job Details
- Schedule: 4 x 12-hour shifts from 06:45 to 19:30 and 18:45 to 07:30, totaling a minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, minimum of 2 years experience in Labor and Delivery, antepartum, and postpartum units; certifications including NRP, BLS, ACLS, AWHONN fetal monitoring classes, and STABLE; excellent communication skills; ability to follow chain of command and utilize resources effectively; experience circulating in the operating room preferred.
- Experience or 'Must Have' Skills: Expertise in managing patients with high-risk pregnancies such as PPROM, placenta previa, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and multiple gestations. Ability to independently transition mother and baby, manage full couplet assignments, and perform car seat studies.
- Additional Information:
- The ability to troubleshoot equipment such as Ventilators, Cpap, BiPap, and High Flow devices is required, with RNs expected to assist with these devices.
- In-house coverage includes OB/Neonatologist 24/7 and anesthesia services via a designated CRNA.
- No telehealth monitoring techs; RNs will interpret fetal and cardiac strips read by dedicated techs.
- Units are assigned via a mobile app, with early shift notifications for exact location.
- Float rotation within women's servicesantepartum, labor, delivery, postpartumis required, with flexibility to float to regionally nearby facilities.
- Orientation includes approximately 4-5 shifts at each site, covering specific areas such as L&D, antepartum, and OR.
- Scrubs are provided; no self-scheduling, but shift trades are permitted with approval. Discounts on parking and easy access at all sites.
