Job Summary
Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH) Technicians are responsible for assisting in cardiovascular surgical procedures within a healthcare facility. This role requires recent experience in open heart cases and cardiovascular surgery, supporting complex surgeries such as coronary artery bypass grafts, valve replacements, and endovascular repairs. The position is based in a busy surgical unit, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care and maintaining sterile and safe operating environments.
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shifts, with a minimum of 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.
- Required Qualifications: Certifications include BLS, Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), and current compact license must be in hand at submission. A minimum of 2 years of consecutive experience in cardiovascular surgery is required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Recent experience in core cardiovascular operating room cases within the last 3 months.
- Additional Information: Must be willing to work three of the five designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day). Candidates are expected to have expert knowledge of cardiovascular surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and operating room equipment handling. Prior experience with EMR systems such as Epic is preferred.
- Submittal Requirements: Candidates must answer whether they have previous work experience at a healthcare facility as a permanent employee, travel contractor, or registry/per-diem, including locations and dates. Two references covering at least one year (six months for CNAs) within the last three years are required prior to start date.
- Additional Job Details: The position involves supporting various advanced cardiovascular procedures, including complex surgeries and endovascular repairs, requiring recent clinical hands-on experience in open heart activities and the ability to scrub independently.
