Description
Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) position in California. This role involves providing specialized perioperative nursing care within an acute care hospital setting, focusing on a variety of complex surgeries including trauma, neuro, vascular, and orthopedic procedures. The position requires adaptability to variable shifts, including the possibility of covering one night shift as needed, with a commitment to support the surgical team across diverse cases.
Job Details:
- Location: 1165 Montgomery Drive, Santa Rosa, California, 95405
- Shift Hours: 12 hours per shift, with variable start times at 7:00 and 9:00, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Start Date: 07/27/2026
- Experience Requirements: 2 years of clinical OR nursing experience, with 3 years of charge nurse experience preferred; travel experience required
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Licensing: Valid California nursing license in hand
- Scholastic and Clinical Skills: Experience with advanced surgical procedures including abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, hysterectomy, neuro, vascular, orthopedic, and robotic surgeries such as those utilizing the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System; proficiency in Epic electronic medical record system.
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, pediatrics, geriatrics, with daily census averaging 25 cases
- Team and Staffing: Patient ratios of 10 RN / 6 ST during days, 1 RN / 1 ST at night, 3 RN / 2 ST on weekends; night shifts generally staffed with two RNs or one RN and one surgical tech, no unit secretary on nights.
- Operational Details: Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities; willingness to work two of the three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) is required.
- Special Procedures/Equipment: Extensive experience with complex surgical techniques and equipment, including laser safety, cell saver, and advanced robotic systems.
- Additional Requirements: Must submit RTO (Request for Time Off) with application, provide two references within the past three years covering one year of work, and include a copy of all applicable certifications.
