Job Summary:
Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) registered nurse position located in Marion, Illinois. This role involves providing care to neuro and neuro-surgical patients on a 22-bed neuro unit with a patient ratio of 1:4. The position requires a dedicated and resilient RN capable of managing change and delivering high-quality patient care during 12-hour night shifts.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Current active Illinois registered nurse license, American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Neurologic Status Scale (NIHSS). A minimum of two years of recent Med Surg/Telemetry experience, including at least one travel assignment, with neuro experience required.
• Patient Population: Neuro and neuro-surgical patients, including cerebrovascular accidents (CVAs), elective back/neck surgeries, and cerebral angiograms.
• Skillset: Comfortable managing medical overflow patients; proficiency in NIHSS, dysphagia screening, neuro assessments, basic tele-interpretation, strict intake and output monitoring, straight catheterization, Foley placements, initiating and titrating heparin infusions, blood/blood product administration, venipuncture, blood cultures, NG tubes, drain management, and medication titration with stability. Strong assessment and critical thinking skills are essential.
• Unit Information: 22-bed neuro unit with a patient nurse ratio of 1:4. The charge nurse will have patient assignments.
• Float: May float to medical unit as needed.
• Additional Notes: Must be experienced with EPIC charting system, scrubs are navy blue, and Covid-19 vaccination is not required. Candidate must meet local requirements within a 40-mile radius.
