Job Summary:
Operating Room Technician specializing in Surgical Technology is needed in Falmouth, Massachusetts. This role involves assisting in various surgical procedures under the supervision of surgeons and registered nurses. The technician is responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile environment, passing instruments, and supporting patient safety and surgical team efficiency.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Rotating shift, 8 hours per shift, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, graduate of an accredited Civilian or Military Operating Room Technician/Surgical Technician program, NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) certification with ongoing certification maintenance, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Preferred Qualifications: Orthopedic surgery experience strongly preferred.
• Performs a variety of surgical procedures under supervision.
• Prepares the operating room for surgeries, including setting up instruments and equipment.
• Maintains sterile environment following hospital policy and AORN (Association of periOperative Registered Nurses) standards.
• Assists during surgeries by passing instruments, holding retractors, and aiding in suturing.
• Supports specimen handling, dressing application, and patient transportation to and from the operating room.
• Operates sterilizers and diagnostic equipment as needed.
• Prepares and labels medications during procedures under supervision.
• Assists in turnover and restocking the operating room.
• Ensures patient privacy, dignity, and safety are prioritized.
• Participates in staff meetings, in-service training, and educational activities.
• Performs additional duties as assigned to support surgical services.
