Job Summary
This is a Registered Nurse (RN) position specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) float coverage located in Portland, Maine. The role involves floating to multiple ICU units including Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Surgical/Trauma Intensive Care Unit (SICU), Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU), and Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). The candidate will provide care for sedated, intubated, and pressor patients across various units, supporting the healthcare organizations patient care needs, with an emphasis on flexibility and teamwork.

Job Details

  • Location: Portland, Maine
  • Position: Registered Nurse (RN) ICU Float
  • Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Float
  • Shift: Nights, 12 hours shifts, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM or 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Schedule: 36 hours minimum per week, with 75% weekend hours required
  • Openings: 1
  • Start Date: 07/20/2026
  • Experience Required: 3 years of ICU experience in an acute care hospital setting, with floating to Neurological ICU, Surgical/Trauma ICU, Cardiac ICU, and CICU based on health care professional experience.
  • Float Requirements: Floating to Neuro ICU, Surgical/Trauma ICU, Cardiac ICU, and CICU, depending on experience. Ability to float within the organizations various ICU units with patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3 in ICU/MICU.
  • Patient Population: Sedated, intubated, and pressor patients, excluding high-complexity cases such as those requiring continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).
  • Equipment/EMR: EPIC electronic medical record system
  • Dress Code: Scrubs (color non-specific); open-toed shoes, jeans, clothing with large logos or prints, or profanity are not acceptable.
  • Additional Information: Candidate must have acute care hospital experience, be flexible with assignments, and demonstrate a focus on outstanding patient care, team communication, and personal drive for excellence.
