Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse in San Luis Obispo, California. This role involves providing specialized care for neonatal patients in an acute care nursery setting, with a focus on managing infants 34 weeks and above, including those requiring bubble CPAP, TPN, IV therapy, and oxygen therapy. The position emphasizes independence, attending deliveries, and participating in the recovery process as a critical component of neonatal care.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.) with an every-other-weekend requirement.
• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification, minimum of 2 years of NICU experience at level 2 or above, and prior experience attending deliveries.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with neonates 34 weeks and above, familiarity with Cerner charting system.
• Float: Experience with attending deliveries is REQUIRED. NICU nurses do not float but are expected to work in the nursery and attend deliveries independently.
• Additional Information: Must demonstrate confidence and independence in patient management, including attending deliveries and participating in neonatal recovery. Shifts are fixed and floor-specific orientation includes 2 shifts. Neonatologists are on call 24/7, and RT (Respiratory Therapy) is available 24/7 for neonatal emergencies.
