Job Summary

The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) RN position in Lynchburg, Virginia, involves providing specialized patient care for cardiac patients within a step-down setting. The role requires adherence to hospital protocols and involves working night shifts. Candidates must have previous travel experience and a VA or Compact license upon start. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a teaching hospital environment with active involvement in patient care and support for students and new hires.

Job Details

  • Shift Time: Nights
  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 48 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid VA or Compact license, minimum of 2 years of work experience in similar settings, active certification in nursing, and knowledge of essential medical equipment such as vital signs monitors, glucometers, wound vacuums, IV pumps, pulse oximeters, chest tubes, tube feeding pumps, and oxygen delivery devices. Experience in cardiac Step-down units and familiarity with Cerner EMR preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with cardiac CIMU patients and with electronic medical record systems such as Cerner.
  • Additional Information: Orientation start dates are 07/27/2026 and 08/10/2026, held every other Monday. Credentialing must be submitted at least one week prior to start. The facility accepts approved declinations for Covid and Flu vaccines. Local travelers under 60 miles will not be accepted. Client may cancel up to 36 hours prior to the start of an assignment due to census fluctuations. The facility is a teaching hospital, and team members are expected to contribute positively to a supportive culture, especially when engaging with students and new hires.
