Description
Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) located in Apple Valley, California. This position involves providing specialized care to neonatal patients in a Level III NICU setting with an average monthly birth rate of 190. The RN will be responsible for caring for high-risk neonates, managing complex procedures, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. This opportunity is ideal for experienced nurses seeking a dynamic and challenging environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Active California nursing license, 2 years of clinical experience including at least 1 year in a neonatal intensive care setting, certification in BLS, NRP, PALS
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with electronic charting systems (Epic), previous NICU experience at Level III, experience in neuro-monitoring and invasive procedures
- Float: May float to mother/baby units for babies, depending on specialty and unit needs
- On-Call: No on-call requirements
- Shift and Schedule Notes: Staff will work every other weekend, with potential for additional weekend coverage based on unit needs. RTO requests must be included at time of submission and approved according to facility policies.
- Patient Population: Neonates and infants, including preemies (29-34 weeks and 34+ weeks), with diagnoses such as prematurity, RDS, sepsis, NEC, and neonatal abstinence syndrome.
- Unit Details: 14-bed Level III NICU with specialties including high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, and complex invasive procedures. Staff will utilize equipment such as CPAP, BIPAP, ventilators, and monitoring systems.
- Additional Responsibilities: Administering blood products, managing PICC and central lines, providing family education, and performing advanced neonatal assessments and procedures.
- Experience & Certification: Minimum 2 years of pediatric or neonatal critical care experience; current BLS, NRP certifications; willingness to obtain advanced certifications if necessary.
