Description
Job Summary:
Emergency Room Nurse (ER) in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. This role involves providing high-quality emergency care in a Level III Trauma Center with a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a Primary Stroke Center. The position offers night shifts in a busy, general ED environment serving a diverse patient population, primarily geriatric, with opportunities to handle a wide range of emergency cases.
Job Details:
- Shift Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Wisconsin license, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC certifications; 2 years of emergency department experience; no specific experience requirement for Med/Surg RN; general ED skill set including PIV starts, blood cultures, chest tubes, code blue experience, triage
- Preferred Qualifications: CPI or MOAB, ENPC certifications; med/surg RN experience with chest tubes, tracheostomies, medication administration, wound care, and general med/surg skills; Peds experience preferred but not required
- Unit Support: Charge nurse (may take patients), 2 CNA techs, 1 HUC, 1 tech, paramedic support during mid-shift, primary RN handles phlebotomy and draws, hospitalist staffing 24/7, respiratory therapist 24/7, bedside telemetry monitoring
- Charting System/Equipment: EPIC electronic health record system, Belmont rapid infuser (preferred), Pyxis medication system
- Float: None for ER RN
- Orientation: At least one shift to familiarize with workflow
- Scheduling: Every other weekend rotation for ER RN; generally no weekends for Med/Surg RN, but can work as needed
- Time Off: Approvals for 7 days; longer requests require contacting nurse manager
- On Call & Holidays: Low census on-call, travelers called off first; holiday staffing as needed
- Scrub Color: Any color, no denim, camo, or logos
- Parking: Free in designated areas
