Job Summary
Medical Surgical Nurse - Portland, ME. This position involves providing patient care on a medical-surgical unit, managing chronic illness and disability needs, performing daily physical assessments, administering medications as ordered, updating care plans, and ensuring patient safety. The role requires adaptability to the unit's clinical needs and adherence to hospital protocols.
Job Details
- Schedule: Nights shift; 12-hour shifts; minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, at least 2 years of experience managing chronic illness and disability, proficiency in physical assessments, medication administration, and care planning.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in medical-surgical care, strong patient advocacy skills, and ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: The role involves managing a unit with 29 beds, maintaining patient ratios, utilizing Epic electronic medical records system, and adhering to the facility's dress code of any color scrub that is fragrance-free. The position is a contractor replacement, with the start date set for 08/03/2026. The role is scheduled for night shifts, with an operational need until the position becomes fully functional on 10/04/2026.
