Job Summary:
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) specialist opportunity available in Baltimore, Maryland. This role involves providing expert nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in a Level 1 designated burn, trauma, and eye center. The position emphasizes managing complex medical and surgical cases in a high-acuity setting.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: RN License; BLS; PALS; ACLS; 2 years current experience in Pediatric ICU; at least 1 travel assignment
- Preferred Qualifications: Critical Care Certification, trauma course, EPIC unit experience
- Additional Information: The pediatric cardiac intensive care unit cares for patients from newborn to 21 years with diagnoses including respiratory failure, metabolic disorders, seizure disorders, multiorgan failure, shock, toxic ingestions, and ECMO; ventricular assist devices. Surgeries include extensive general, cardiac, thoracic, transplants, orthopedic, and neurologic procedures. Care involves continuous infusions and intermittent medications (narcotics, vasopressors, diuretics, PN/IL), IVP, PCA, PO, GT/JT. The patient to nurse ratio is typically 2:1 or 1:1.
