Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Step Down Unit located in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on patient care for individuals with diagnoses such as heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke. Candidates will be responsible for monitoring and interpreting tele monitors, titrating set-rate drips, and collaborating with charge nurses and patient care technicians. The position requires a commitment to teamwork, positive attitude, and patient-centered care.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting 08/03/2026.
• Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications; minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a similar setting; candidates must have a drivers license to verify distance from the facility.
• Department Details: The unit has 22 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. Patients include those with heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, and stroke. RNs are required to read and interpret tele monitors and read strips. RNs titrate drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin and troubleshoot equipment including vents, Cpap, BiPAP, and high flow devices. Charge nurses handle patient assignments and take full caseloads.
• Additional Information: The unit expects floating to ICU if needed and capable of handling admits and discharges efficiently. A 12-hour orientation shift is provided, and candidates must be willing to float and work in a fast-paced environment. Artificial nails are prohibited, and candidates must adhere to hospital policies.
