Description

Job Summary:
The Labor And Delivery (L&D) department at a rural healthcare facility in Dickinson, North Dakota, is seeking qualified nurses for a 12-hour shift position beginning on 08/03/2026. This role involves caring for patients in labor and postpartum, following AWHONN guidelines, with a focus on teamwork, provider consistency, and independent clinical skills within a rural setting.

Job Details:

  • Certifications Required: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Required Qualifications: 2 years of clinical experience, valid license to submit, location in North Dakota
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, rotating shifts
  • Orientation: 3 shifts of unit-specific training, each 12 hours
  • Shift Notes: Day/Night rotation, every third weekend, float to MSP/ED as needed, holidays as required
  • Floating: Assistance in emergency department and other units, primarily providing sitting support with patients
  • Patient Population: Greater than 35 weeks in labor, mother/baby couplets, common diagnoses include labor, postpartum recovery, neonatal care
  • Equipment: Neonatal vent-CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow, EFM systems, OB Trace Vue
  • Additional Details: Limited services at this rural hospital, unit attributes include teamwork, communication, independence, and provider consistency. C-section procedures are managed by surgery, with circulating duties for the baby.
  • RTO (Request Time Off): Required upfront (7 days or less per 13-week contract); additional RTO not permitted.
  • Travel and Radius: Distance from NICU is greater than 1 hour; radius rule is 50 miles; candidates may not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with associated organizations.
