Description
Job Summary:
The Postpartum Floor Nurse position is located in Irvine, California. This role involves providing specialized care for postpartum patients in a dedicated post-partum setting, ensuring patient comfort, safety, and clinical excellence during assigned shifts. The position requires a professional committed to high-quality maternal and newborn care in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per day, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications:
- 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- License, Certification, Registration: Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided), Basic Life Support, Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
- Demonstrated ability to perform electronic fetal monitoring.
- Demonstrated IV skills and ability to perform lab draws.
- Demonstrated knowledge of high-risk medication administration (Magnesium, Oxytocin, Insulin).
- Demonstrated ability to perform Urine Point of Care testing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of capillary blood glucose testing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of IStat.
- Demonstrated ability to perform Adult Cardiac monitoring.
- Demonstrated knowledge of newborn monitors including pulse oximetry and cardiac monitoring.
- Demonstrated ability to perform heel sticks/venipuncture on newborn.
- Demonstrated knowledge of newborn medication including ability to perform IV administration and maintenance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Bili-blankets/lights.
- Demonstrated knowledge of radiant warmers.
- Demonstrated knowledge to support gynecology teaching & post-operative bladder training.
- Demonstrated knowledge to support maternal-newborn teaching.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in nursing or related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of labor and delivery experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of postpartum experience.
- Minimum one (1) year of medical/surgical nursing experience.
Additional Information:
This position supports postpartum and maternal-newborn patient care, requiring proficiency in neonatal and maternal monitoring, medication administration, and patient education. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility and a commitment to clinical excellence in a high-volume care environment.
