Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Orthopedic Nurse Omaha, NE. This role involves providing specialized nursing care on a Medical Surgical Orthopedic Unit, focusing on joint replacements, fractures, and other orthopedic and medical conditions. The position requires a dedicated and compassionate RN to support patient care in a fast-paced environment, managing diverse patient needs and collaborating with the healthcare team.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: BLS certification through the American Heart Association; minimum of 2 years of nursing experience; valid nursing license; driver's license required at submission; must be within 50 miles of the facility; no full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with any facility associated with the organization.
• Preferred Qualifications: ACLS certification preferred; experience with orthopedic and medical-surgical patients preferred.
• Float: Float to other medical-surgical units with MedSurg patients waiting for a bed.
• Duties: Managing joint replacements, fractures, colon resections, COPD exacerbations, prostatectomies, cellulitis, sepsis, orthopedic trauma, GI bleeds, pneumonia, and failure to thrive; titration of drips such as Heparin, Lidocaine, and Ketamine; interpretation of tele monitors with some tele awareness; hourly rounding and responsiveness; teamwork and excellent attendance are highly valued.
• Orientation: 2 days of unit-specific training.
• Other notes: Mechanical lifts in every other room, serving patients of diverse cultures including Spanish, Karen, and Burmese; uniforms are navy blue.
