Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse position located in Tacoma, Washington. This role involves providing specialized care within a Level III-IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, caring for high-risk neonatal patients including preemies as small as 22 weeks gestation, with a focus on respiratory support and critical care procedures. The position offers a dynamic environment requiring clinical expertise and a positive attitude to support fragile newborns and their families.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts from 0700-1930 or 1900-0730, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Washington state nursing license; 2 years of experience in Level III-IV Neonatal Intensive Care Units.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with respiratory support for vents, trachs (highly preferred but not required), g-tubes, NG/OG, NCPAP, UAC/UVC management, PICC lines, medication administration, care planning, and transition to home care; experience with surgical patients and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is advantageous.
• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Premature neonates down to 22 weeks gestation, respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), high-risk deliveries, NAS (Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome), feeders/growers, and high-risk labor and delivery cases.
• Additional Information: This NICU is part of a pediatric hospital attached to an adult hospital, featuring private rooms and a capacity of 70 beds with typical census around 50. Block scheduling may be available but is not guaranteed. Float coverage may occasionally extend to the emergency room to serve as a sitter, though this is rare. No on-call is required.
