Description

Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) in Spokane, Washington. This position involves providing high-risk obstetric care within a Level II Trauma and Pediatric Trauma Center. The RN will be responsible for managing labor and delivery, antepartum, pre-eclampsia, diabetes, multiple pregnancies, VBAC/TOLAC, maternal emergencies, and high-risk obstetric procedures, supporting a busy facility with an expected daily census of approximately nine deliveries.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights shift with 12-hour hours, requiring a minimum of 48 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid Washington or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license, at least 2 years of labor and delivery experience, certifications in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses). Experience with high-risk obstetrics, intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC) placement, fetal monitoring, and managing maternal emergencies is essential.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a teaching hospital, labor and delivery with high-risk antepartum, use of electronic fetal heart monitoring (EFM), and proficiency with intraoperative procedures, including C-section circulation and recovery.
  • Additional Information: The RN will float between units as needed, working in a facility that performs 200-300 births per month. Responsibilities include assisting with sterile vaginal exams, fetal monitoring, neonatal resuscitation, pain management, postpartum care, and parental education. The role requires adherence to hospital policies on PPE, patient safety, and emergency procedures.
