Job Summary:
This Springfield-based Orthopedic Medical Surgical RN position involves providing specialized care on a 38-bed orthopedic unit. The role requires delivering high-quality patient care for adults and geriatrics, including post-surgical orthopedic patients, trauma cases, and long-term IV therapy. The position offers a night shift schedule, providing an excellent opportunity for experienced RNs to support a Level I trauma center with a focus on orthopedic procedures.

Job Details:

• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts (1845-0715), minimum 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Minimum 2 years' experience as a registered nurse, active Illinois license, BLS certification; ACLS preferred. Certs to include BLS required, ACLS preferred.
• Preferred Qualifications: Telemetry experience, IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, Cerner charting system experience. Previous travel nursing experience is a plus.
• Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred.
• Schedule: Nights; 3 shifts per week, every other weekend work; no block schedule acceptance.
• Additional Information: Experience with PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, and telemetry preferred. Candidate will float to other Med Surg departments if needed. Travel experience is preferred but not required. The role involves complex dressing changes, bedside debridement, traction, and use of specialized equipment such as IV pumps and vital sign monitors.
• Work Environment: Acute care hospital with Level I trauma designation, 562 staffed beds.
• Other Notes: Candidates must be pre-closed at the time of submission, with verified license and background check disclosures. Modular training is required pre-start and ongoing annually.
