Job Summary
The Healthcare Professional specializing in Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular in Peoria, Illinois, will provide critical care to post open heart surgical patients with complex cardiovascular conditions. This position involves managing ventilated patients, titrating multiple drips, and utilizing advanced intervention equipment including IABPs, ECMO, and Swan Ganz catheters. The role necessitates a highly skilled nurse capable of working in a fast-paced, high-stress environment with minimal supervision.
Job Details
- Shift: 12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), with weekend and holiday rotation; minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: BLS (American Heart Association) certification; minimum of 2 years of experience in cardiovascular intensive care; Illinois nursing license or ability to obtain license.
- Preferred Qualifications: ACLS certification, CCRN certification, experience with post cardiac surgery, VAD, and transplant patients, proficiency in interpreting electrocardiogram strips, experience with ventilator management including Cpap, Bipap, and nitric oxide therapy.
- Responsibilities: Titrate multiple drips including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epi, neo, vasopressin, propofol, fentanyl, versed, insulin, heparin, and esmolol; interpret telemetry strips; respond to high-acuity cardiovascular patients requiring ICU care; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including respiratory therapists, APNs/PAs, and house supervisors.
- Additional Information: The unit maintains a team-oriented environment with 24/7 charge nurses, house supervisors, respiratory therapists, and monitor techs. The candidate must be proficient with cardiovascular ICU protocols, equipment, and patient management, including VAD and transplant post-op care.
