Job Summary
This is a Step Down Unit registered nurse position located in Omaha, Nebraska. The role involves providing care to adult and geriatric patients with complex conditions, including cardiac, nephrology, stroke, and diabetes. The assignment requires strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills to succeed in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, with start date on 08/03/2026.
- Required Qualifications: Valid licensure, BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS certification. Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a similar setting.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in step-down or telemetry units is advantageous.
- Float: Float rotation may be required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab units.
- Additional Information: The position involves managing patient ratios of 1:4-5, with duties including titration of drips such as Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications. Each shift has a charge nurse who may take assignments, and nurse aides or patient care technicians are available. Orientation includes one week of onboarding plus 1-2 days on the floor. This is a fast-paced environment requiring a positive attitude, good communication, problem-solving skills, and teamwork. Candidates must adhere to a radius rule of 50 miles and may not be part-time, PRN, or full-time with associated facilities of the organization. RTO requests are limited to 7 days or less per 13-week contract and must be communicated upfront.
