Description
Job Summary:
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Float RN position available in Oak Lawn, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized nursing care in a 19-23 bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit within a teaching hospital setting. The focus is on teamwork and delivering high-quality care to critically ill pediatric patients with diagnoses such as respiratory issues, congenital heart disease, hematology/oncology conditions, post-operative recovery, and trauma cases.
Job Details:
- Location: Oak Lawn, IL
- Position: Pediatric Intensive Care Float RN
- Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Start Date: 08/10/2026
- Required Qualifications: Illinois RN license; 2 years PICU RN experience; BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications (highly preferred); previous travel experience not required
- Unit Information: 19-23 beds, patient census averaging 15-18 patients daily, RN patient ratio 2:1
- Support within the Department: CNA assistance available for patient room preparation and high touch cleaning; resources include receptionists, charge nurses, phlebotomy staff, IV team, resource nurse, and tele tech; available 24/7 are RT, hospitalist, and intensivist
- Technology/Equipment: EMR system, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis Med Dispense, Med Sonic Monitors
- Orientation: Neonatal Orientation and two days departmental in PICU
- Notes: Navy scrubs preferred; free parking provided
