Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registered nurse (RN) position in Durham, North Carolina, involves providing critical patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The RN is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care, supervising licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes. This role emphasizes the importance of safety, quality, and patient education in accordance with organizational core values.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS certification prior to first shift; ACLS certification required prior to first shift (if applicable). A minimum of 2 years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in an ICU setting, proficiency with Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) standards, and familiarity with electronic health record systems.
• Additional Information: Performs comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission to develop individualized care plans. Responsible for timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses. Initiates discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission. Communicates effectively with care team members to ensure continuity and safety. Delegates tasks appropriately and contributes to a positive work environment. Maintains personal and environmental safety in accordance with policies. Participates in team activities and seeks ongoing professional development. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities after orientation as requested.
