Job Summary:
Operating Room Open Heart specialist position located in Johnson City, NY. The role involves supporting surgical procedures by maintaining asepsis, assisting surgeons, and ensuring patient safety during complex cardiothoracic operations. Emphasis on teamwork and adherence to infection control policies to facilitate efficient case turnover.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, with four or five 8-hour shifts weekly, typically starting between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m., for a duration of 13 weeks. Call up to 3 shifts per week, ranging from 8 to 16 hours, with one weekend per 4 weeks.
• Required Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent; NBSTSA - Certified Surgical Technologist (CST); BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Preferred Qualifications: Previous operating room experience; surgical technologist experience in cardiothoracic procedures such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve replacements, video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), and robotic chest procedures.
• Additional Information: The role requires assisting in sterile technique, instrument handling, and specimen management. Candidates will support timely case turnover and may be involved in suturing, retracting, and suctioning under the surgeons direction. Rotating call duty and working one weekend per month are part of the schedule.
